Columbus’ art is featured in the National Museum of Women in the Arts, and her photographs are published in the award-winning book Becoming a Chef by Van Nostrand Reinhold. This work is on display at the Peter Kump School of Cooking in NYC. Jamie has licensed her greeting card designs to Chronicle Giftworks, and helped dozens of not-for-profit organizations, hospitals, universities, and corporations by creating outstanding identity packages featuring original art, later used to launch events including school reunions, anniversary celebrations, and the founding of new ventures. A documentary of her work, Jamie Columbus, Portrait of an Artist, has been produced on CD by Eastman Kodak Company. Earth Tones Woman, Jamie’s artful, photo-journalistic coffee table book, features a spicy rainbow of exotic locales, intriguing poetry and contemporary subject matter. Her photographs honor tribal women living in Central and South America, the Middle East and Africa. Images of her subjects capture color, soul and the sacredness of daily living while revealing her desire to preserve the dignity of indigenous cultures and cross-cultural harmony. Earth Tones Women: A Modern Gypsy’s Photo Journal was exhibited at the Rochester Contemporary Art Center RoCo) in Rochester, NY, February 6-March 15, 2009 in collaboration with the Rochester International Women’s Day celebration (www.RIWD.org), an event planned by a committee of 24 Rochester women.
